Dutch Waffles

For some reason our girls have been particularly demanding with their breakfast requests of late. I think they are getting spoiled! :) This morning they wanted Belgian waffles, but those take quite some time to prepare. So we went with our faster waffle option, these Dutch Waffles the recipe for which I’ve adapted from the Polish blog Mojewypieki.com

Recipe type: Breakfast
Serves: 4

Ingredients
  • 500 ml milk (2 cups)
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 100g butter, melted (1/2 cup minus 1 tablespoon)
  • 300g flour (1¾ cup)
  • 1 teaspoon Kirkland pure vanilla
  • ½ cup icing sugar
  • optional: fresh fruit and Kirkland pure maple syrup for topping

Instructions
  1. In a bowl mix the liquid ingredients together.
  2. In a second bowl sift together the dry ingredients.
  3. Add the dry ingredients into the liquid and mix thoroughly with a whisk until the batter is smooth.
  4. Add the batter to your waffle maker according to how much it requires. (In our waffle maker one batch of 4 waffles requires 1½ cups batter.)
  5. Cook until golden brown and crisp. Many waffle makers have an automatic timer which makes things super easy.
  6. Serve the waffles topped with your favorite fruit and maple syrup.
