3 Bit Cake

3 Bit Cake

This is a very popular cake in Poland. The recipe for it was inspired by the chocolate bar “3 bit”, which isn’t really known in North America but is in Europe. It’s a sweet treat made with biscuits, milk filling, caramel and covered with chocolate. It was a real hit as our dessert at a large family gathering and is a real explosion of sweetness.

Ingredients
  • 1-2 packages of social tea biscuits
  • 1 can “Dulce de leche” (I used eagle brand)
  • 3 cups of milk
  • 2 teaspoons of Kirkland Signature pure vanilla
  • ⅔ cup of sugar
  • ½ cup of butter
  • 3 tablespoons of flour
  • 4 tablespoons of cornstarch
  • 2 cups of whipping cream
  • 2 teaspoons of Kirkland Signature Pure Maple Syrup
  • shredded chocolate for decoration

Instructions
  1. Prepare an 8X8 baking pan by lining it with Kirkland Signature Parchment Paper.
  2. Make a first layer of tea biscuits.
  3. Pour the dulce de leche into a small pot and cook on medium high for about 6 minutes, stirring constantly (this is really important, or you will end up burning the caramel)
  4. When ready, pour the dulce de leche over the first layer of biscuits.
  5. Cover with a second layer of biscuits.
  6. To make the pudding, pour 2 cups of milk, the butter, 1 teaspoon of vanilla and the sugar into a medium size pot and bring to a boil.
  7. Take the remaining milk (1 cup) and mix with the flour and cornstarch.
  8. When the milk is boiling, pour the flour and milk mixture into it and quickly stir.
  9. Continue to cook stirring constantly until the pudding gets thick and starts bubbling.
  10. Spread the hot pudding all over the biscuits.
  11. Cover with the last layer of biscuits, wrap in plastic and put into the fridge for overnight.
  12. The next day whip the whipping cream with 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 2 teaspoons of maple syrup, until thick.
  13. Spread the whipped cream on the last layer of biscuits and sprinkle with shredded chocolate.
